Legal Question in Traffic Law in Minnesota

traffic citation

What should we do? My son was in an accident, issued a citation for not slowung down for the weather conditions, pled not guilty, given a court date, then another, then another (officer med appt), now a new one. When he called to reschedule it, he was told could not because it had been too hard to get the other witnesses (other driver) here. he was hit back left 1/4 straight on, officer did not see what happened, ie. no evidence. Other driver, no attempt to slow down, stop, avoid. car hit hard enough to bounce to other side of street. he needs the continuance:last day if senoir yr of hi-school. Does he need an attorney, witnesses, etc. We were not informed these people were going to be present. We thought it was just before the judge, since that is what we had been told by the clerk. Help, please.

Re: traffic citation

If he entered a plea of not guilty, he was given a trial date. At a trial, you cross examine the witnesses of the state and, in you rown case, call witnesses and present evidence to support your defense.

It is likely a trial to the court, meaning a Judge.
