Legal Question in Traffic Law in Minnesota

unpaid speeding tickets

My friend has had several speeding tickets and has consistently just not paid them. Then she got her license suspended for the last ticket and now has a warrant for her arrest due to the unpaid speeding tickets. What are her options? If she turns herself in by paying the tickets what would be the penalties (extra fines, jail time, etc.)? How long would it take for her to get her license back? If she doesnt turn herself in, how long until the charges are dropped and she can get her license back? thank you so much

Re: unpaid speeding tickets

I can't tell you how long before she gets her license back, since that depends on more variables than your question provides; but you can find out by calling the Minnesota Department of Public Safety - or at least she can find out.

For all practical purposes, a warrant never goes away. So she has to eventually turn herself in. It would be a good idea to engage the services of a lawyer who could check on the details you are wondering about in advance. I hate surprises. They are to be avoided.
