Legal Question in Traffic Law in Minnesota
I wasn't wearing my seat belt when i passed a cop. He fallowed me and started to pull me over. So when this was happening i slipped my seat belt on. He came up to my car and said i was being pulled over for not having a seat belt on, which i did have on at the time. Would i have any leg to stand on in court? Could i say i had it on the whole time?

First, no attorney can tell you to make a false statement in court. That is perjury.
Second, if you have no significant prior record, if you go to court, chances are you will be offerred a Stay of Prosecution which means it will not go on your record.
