Legal Question in Traffic Law in Minnesota
please help me
I am wondering if a police officer can give you a ticket for a DAS if he never pulled you over. He pulled up along side the road without lights or sirens on and my fiance and 5 year old son were out of the car and walking into a store when he approached them. The cop also pulled him over a few months ago. He told us it was for a crack in the windsheild but told a friend of mine that it was becuase he didnt think he had a liscense. He also asked if there was any pipes in the car because he said he was gonna tow it and search it. He did this in front of my 5 year old. Can he do this? Is it harrasment?

Re: please help me
Yes. You can receive a ticket for Driving After Suspension if the officer observed the driving conduct and had reason to believe that the driver was unlicensed (usually be making a quick computer check). It does not matter whether or not the officer ultimately writes the ticket when the driving conduct has ceased.
