Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Minnesota
My dad died in minnesota ''i'm now homeless within 5 hrs''
Dear friend, about 10 days before christmas my father died at age 57. I am in my 20's and have lived and worked with him pretty much my entire life on the family farm ''just him and i'' (only kid). He lived there for 30 + years and i have lived there since about 1990. The farm is left in a trust mostley for my dad and parts of it for his 3 other brothers and sisters who all live in the cities. Within about 4-5 hours of my dad dieing his brother came up and kicked me out after saying some pretty mean things. Afterwards i saw him through the window going through my fathers stuff. I then called the sheriff. They wouldnt help me because they were confused and unsure about the situation, and said that i have to leave and if i'm seen back on the property it would be tresspassing. Its been a couple of weeks now and i'm still pretty much homeless, staying where ever i can. Mostly the library during the day. Everything my father and i had are still on the farm. I have no idea what to do, where to go or whose doing what with our stuff. My dogs gone. I really need help protecting our things so maybe i could sell some stuff and get a apartment. '' i'm just wondering if someone could help me out. How many laws have been violated.

I am terribly sorry for your loss.
The question becomes what are your dad's things and what are your things. That would have to determined as part of a probate proceeding. As part of that proceeding, you may provide proof as to what items you purchased and are rightfully yours.
the balance would have to be probated and disbursed based either on the terms of a Will or the state's intestacy statutes if no will.
