Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Minnesota
Forclosure, Debt, prior children, and Life Insurance in MN
Greetings,
My wife recently passed away, the property we lived in was in her name and in foreclosure (sheriff's sale scheduled twice but never happened as far as I know).
Question 1: Can the 'bank' seize the property and kick me out at any time / without notice? Do I have to pay property taxes?
Q2: Am I correct in thinking that a life insurance policy naming me as Beneficiary need not be used to pay off her debts?
Q3: Can another state enforce me to pay money to my wife's children to whom I am not father to? (the divorce was in WI and I think it states a $50K lien if no life insurance naming children as Beneficiaries).
My Wife only had house and an old car in solely her name, there is less than $200 in our joint account. And that is all for assests.
Thank you for your response.

You have enough going on that you probably ought to retain a lawyer. Was your wife intestate? I'm guessing so but am not sure. Is there a probate open? Is there a Personal Representative? I would want answers to those questions and know a great deal more before giving out too much advice given your issues.
MY STANDARD DISCLAIMER: This is not intended to be legal advice or to create an attorney-client relationship. No attorney-client relationship is intended until you and I sign a retainer agreement.
