I'm going to guess: You are female. This is your paternal grandmother. Your parents are divorced and you have not spoken to your father for years.

My first suggestion is call the man. You may feel victimized but he probably does too. It's time for healing. You might be surprised by the outcome.

Without actually speaking with your parent, the only thing you can do is check with the probate court in the county where grandma lived or had most or her assets. If a probate proceeding was started, the entire file including the will if there was one is public information. You can go to the courthouse and look at the whole thing. If there was no estate probated, then I have no further ideas for you. Sometimes people have their affairs in such good order that probate is not needed; or sometimes the assets are so few that there's no use bothering with the trouble and expense of probate court.
