Dear Distraught Mother of Two: While I am not admitted to practice in your state, I can offer you some Fatherly advice: see a reputable, skilled divorce lawyer in your area. If you don't know any attorney, contact your local Bar Association and request they recommend the names of attorneys for your consideration.

Prepare a chronology of events, so you'll remember important facts and events for your meeting with prospective counsel. Carefully interview each Attorney you intend to consider to hire; ask questions, get an idea of whether or not you feel confident and secure with him or her to disclose important details of your family life. Ask about fees, costs, and expenses. If you find tyou cannot afford an Attorney, contact your local Legal Aid Society or Bar Association (in tjhe 'phonebook) for an Attorney who will represent you under the Federal, State and County funded programs, without charge, if you qualify (under applicable income guidelines).
