Legal Question in Criminal Law in Mississippi
In 2009 I received a non adjudicated felony for transfer of forged prescription. I was given 5 years probation and upon completion of probation and upon all my fines and fees being paid there was not supposed to be a felony on my record. The conviction was suppose to be withheld. I got and early release off my probation because of good behavior and because all my fees and fines were paid in 2012. I received my discharge papers. I just got hired as an assistant store manager and I wanna know whether this will prevent me from getting the job once they perform the background check. Please answer

Unless you affirmatively took steps to hire counsel to obtain an "expungement" of the conviction/arrest there may be records of the arrest which indicate a "not guilty" disposition. However with some employers the arrest alone is enough to warrant a "no hire" decision. You may wish to contact competent counsel to discuss expungement proceedings immediately.
