Legal Question in Criminal Law in Mississippi

My brother was just served with an arrest warrant on what the officer said, "looks like felony check writing." I know there was a check for cigarettes for approx. $105. ($145 with the return fee) I need to know what to do now. The officer said it'll probably be a "must see" so he'll be in at least overnight. This is Lee County, Mississippi. The officer also said he'd take him to Baldwyn (our city) to book him in, then to Lee County. (The jail I guess?)

Neither he nor I are currently employed and we have maybe $600 total between us. What are our (his I guess really) options?

Get a bail agent to post the bail and get him out. Then save the money to retain an attorney or rely on a public defender
