Legal Question in Criminal Law in Mississippi

Check Fraud/Identity Theft

My purse was stolen, the suspect wrote 5 checks to various places which accepted the checks using my ID as verification. The person writing the stolen checks didn't even forge my name correctly, yet still 5 vendors (pretty big companies)accepted the checks as being good.

My question is: A. Can I sue the person that forged the checks for identity theft? B. May I also sue the businesses that accepted the stolen checks for anything and/or get the cashier accepting the checks fired?

Re: Check Fraud/Identity Theft

Yes, but you shouldn't. Your bank will do that for you. Advise your bank of the problem. They should credit your account and go after the bad guys, though your assistance will be required in talking to the police.
