Legal Question in Criminal Law in Mississippi

Can a conviction be reamoved?

In 1999, i was convicted of simple assault. The last 3 jobs that I jave applied for I have been turned down based on this conviction. Is there any way to remove the conviction from my criminal record and if so how?

You can ask the judge to expunge the record. Statute allows for expungement of first time offenses by young persons, and possibly the court has the inherent power to expunge the record under other circumstances as well. Talk to a local attorney.

You could seek a pardon, or, although there is no statute for it, file some sort of a motion with the trial court to expunge your record. It is extremely doubtful that you would be successful. What were the facts of the charge?

Depending on the circumstances, a motion can be filed under one of a couple of statutes to expunge the record.
