deferred ajudication
twelve years ago my cousin and I was stop by a officer from panola county in texas. My cousin was driving and did not have license. The officer asked to search the car. He found some marijuana under the seat. I never went to court because of a lawyer situation. We never went to court. Now some twelve years have passed and the case has popped back up. They offered me a diferred ajudication. since the case is twelve years old and difered ajudication is not a conviction how would employers treat this. I was twenty two years old when this happen I am now thirty four. I was offered diferred adjudication seven days ago. I have live in mississippi, but was stop in texas

Under a deferred adjudication case in Miss. the Defendant tenders or offers a plea of Guilty which is accepted but not formally entered on the record pending completion of probation and the successful completion of all probation program requirements. Those requirements usually include abstaining from the use of alcohol and/or drugs as well as a fine. If the Defendant concludes probation without violating the rules the case is ultimately dismissed, but if the Defendant violates one of the probation rules the Defendant is automatically convicted and is usually required to serve time in prison.
