Re: domestic charge

The charges are not "yours" to drop. The State/City Prosecution sponsors the charges, and the Police Officer is the primary witness. He can testify to what you told him and what he observed. If your husband is convicted he can be sentenced to a jail term of up to six months and/or a fine of $500.00 or both fine and jail.

The reason the law won't allow YOU to dictate the dismissal of the charge is because there are those spouses/boyfriends who will tell their wife/girlfriend that "...if you thought you got a beating the first time... you had... better get down there and drop the charges or you will REALLY get a beating!!!" Thank OJ Simpson for this law and the active enforcement of the law.
