income tax check

if a couple file taxes together and are seperated when the check comes in and if one of them are a state away but wants the other to sign their name and deposit the check then what would happen( by seperated, I mean for two months)

If the wife signs both names and deposits the money into a joint account, nothing can happen to the wife. If the wife signs the check with permission (preferably in writing) no harm can come to the wife under those circumstances.
