Legal Question in Criminal Law in Mississippi
Hi, Im meeting with the DA sometime this week to request that the charges that were filled be dropped. I know its out of my hands; Really, what Im trying to say is letting them know I no longer wish to pursue charges on my behalf. The person that hit me, it was his first offense and has never been in trouble with the law. We dated for 5 years and are no longer together. I moved away and personally am seeking anger management being that I played apart in that night. I was very confused that night and just wish none of this ever happened. I would like to sit and speak with the DA , but I don't want anything to backfire and make things worse. Ive been told it can be worth the risk , being that this is a veteran , and never been convicted or in any trouble. We are dealing with felony charges if that makes a difference. Is meeting with them a good idea?

You are admitting you were struck, and it is a felony. You can state you no longer wish to pursue the matter, but the DA may and can move forward on his or her own. Additionally if it comes out you are violating a no contact order or made false charges you could face legal ramifications
