First offense shoplifting in Mississippi calls for up to 1,000.00 and up to six months in jail or at worst a small fine and probation. Depending on the location, many courts are sentencing jail time any where from 10 days to more to serve. I strongly suggest you get counsel to assess your case and get you the best possible outcome.
