Legal Question in Criminal Law in Mississippi
I have had the same PD for 7+ years. He says he is no longer a PD and gave my case to another attorney. Is this legal?

Public defenders leave the office. It can be transferred if you wish to retain counsel you are free to do that as well

Yes they can change. If you are aggrieved at this change you are certainly free to hire private counsel of your choice provided you do so in a timely manner so as not to interfere with the scheduling of hearings set in your case.
