Is it a requirement for police officers to record all interrogations, and if they fail to do so does this affect the outcome of the case?

Re: police interrogation

While it is a good idea for the Police to either record interrogations, or at the very least, generate a memorandum of the interrogation session results, the failure to do so will not result in dismissal of a case. Failure to record interrogations may affect the outcome of the case if there is a serious factual dispute concerning the events which transpire in the interrogation session, particularly when a talented Attorney can cause a Jury to question the claimed result of that session.
