possesion of a firearm by a convicted felon

In the state of MS, what is the sentence on a convicted felon arrested for a possession of a firearm? Is there anything that can be done to try and reduce the sentence?

Re: possesion of a firearm by a convicted felon

THE POSSIBLE SENTENCE IS 1-10 YEARS IN PRISON AND/OR A FINE OF UP TO $5000 OR BOTH. IF THE FELON USED THE FIREARM IN CONNECTION WITH A NEW FELONY THE COURT WILL ADD TEN (10) YEARS TO THE SENTENCE FOR THE NEW FELONY IF CONVICTED ON THAT CHARGE. OTHERWISE THE PENALTY FOR MERE POSSESSION OF A FIREARM [OR SOME OTHER WEAPONS SUCH AS A BOWIE KNIFE, ETC.] IS FROM ONE (1) TO TEN (10) YEARS AND A FINE OF UP TO $5000.00 OR BOTH FINE AND PRISON SENTENCE. A GOOD ATTORNEY CAN OBTAIN THE LOWEST SENTENCE RANGE AND/OR CAN OBTAIN A SUSPENDED SENTENCE IN THIS TYPE OF CASE IN SOME INSTANCES. SEE YOUR PREFERRED COUNSEL AT ONCE.
