Legal Question in Criminal Law in Mississippi
Precedent of Suing Judges for Deformation of Character
My aunt was recently accused of stalking and harassment and went to trial over the issue. The judge dismissed the case after the prosecution presented its case on the grounds that the accusations did not meet the legal definition of stalking or harassment. Before he issued his decision, however, he made several alledgedly derogatory comments concerning the character of my aunt. She is now interested in suing the judge for defomation of character. How precedented is such an action, and how likely is it that she would win such a lawsuit?

IMO, she has no chance of winning.
