time to go to trial

i was arrest on July 22,2003 and charged with embezzaling 250.00 from the county , as of today july 1,2004 i have still don't been brought to trial, it was not taken before the grand jury , and on june 31,2004 after being told to report to justice court ,the counth offered me a deal , that if i plead guilty he give me 6 months house arrest,and a thousand dollar fine, if i did not take is deal he was going to take it before the grand jury now (almost a year later) and if found guilty i might get 5 years in jail plus a heavy finr . i said no i was not going to plead guilty to something i did not do. what are my rights to a speedy trial

The speedy trial 270 rule does not apply until after indictment. However, the Constitutional speedy trial requirement may apply if the government's delay has impaired your ability to defendant and you have been demanding a speedy trial all along. You need to contact an attorney as soon as possible.
