Legal Question in DUI Law in Mississippi

Tennessee DL suspended due to Mississippi conviction

In Mississippi, a person from Tennessee, who possessed a TN DL, was arrested and convicted of DUI. The sentence included DL suspension for one year to be reduced to 90 days upon completion of a DUI course. Upon completion of the course, the instructor advised that a judge in Tennessee could be approached to request a hardship license since the DUI penalty in Tennessee is suspension for one year. What does a person have to do in order to obtain his driver's license after the 90 days as the sentencing was in Mississippi? It doesn't seem that Tennessee could impose a longer suspension period than what was sentenced in Mississippi. Is that correct?

Re: Tennessee DL suspended due to Mississippi conviction

I would go to the TN license bureau and try to get my license now. It's possible that the paperwork has not been processed yet and your license are not even suspended yet. The license bureau will let you get license or they won't. If they don't they can tell you the specific laws of TN.
