Legal Question in Elder Law in Mississippi
How do I legally go after a person who stole state disability money from a paren
Is stealing disability money from an ill person with a terminal diagnosis considered elderly abuse? If so, can criminal charges be brought against that person? If she put her name on my mother's account and had my mom sign the paperwork without knowing the caregiver's name was on her checking account can I do anything about it? The State of MS says that the caregiver's name was on her bank account and therefore there is nothing they can do about it?

It's not a garden variety version of elder abuse. It depends on how foreseeable that the elder person would be injured in her person. Depending on the circumstances, it may also be a theft. Alternatively, you can sue in Chancery for appointment of a guardian and for breach of fiduciary trust and conversion of assets.
