Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi
My 4 yr old grandson has lived withe since he was 8 mos old. His mother has no permanent home, no permanent phone number, mental illness and drug addiction issues. The other say she sent me a signed notarized letter giving me guardianship of him, thus allowing me to make all medical and legal decisions for him and so that no one could just walk in and take him from me. I do not know who his father is either.
If I sign and notarize this paper, and file it at the courthouse is it legal and binding?

No. You have to file a formal petition with the chancery court and have a ruling entered by a judge. Please get counsel
