Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi

changing birth certificates

I would like to know the easiest route to fixing a situation I am in. I had twins in 2005 by my current husband. However, I was still legally married to my now ex-husband. Therefore, by law, the hospital had to put his name on them. In the divorce papers, it stated that they did not belong to him. It didn't however mention that my husband is the father. What is the fastest and/or least expensive way to fix this? Thank you for your time.

Re: changing birth certificates

This situtation requires an action in the Chancery Court to correct the birth certificates. You will need to employ a lawyer.

After further review, my prior response was wrong. There is a form of acknowledgment of paternity that you and the bio father will sign and submit to Vital Statistics and they should change the b.c.s.
