I have lived in maryland for 4 yrs, recently in the state of mo. where my exhusband lives the judge has given him temerory custody of the kids, because i did come to the modification to vistation, the children live with me and go to school here in maryland i was not told until recently that after six months i could of had everything transferd here, I have not been served with paper work on this yet, I just called the court house in mo. to find this out what are my options in keeping my children? can i appeal

Re: child custody

If the children have been living in Maryland for at least 6 months, then Maryland could take jurisdiction based on their new home state. However, if there is pending litigation in another state, a Maryland court may decline jurisdiction. If the out-of-state custody order is temporary, I would assume that a final hearing is yet to come. You may also have an issue with improper service if you never received a summons from the court.
