Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi

Contempt of court summons

My ex-H served me w/summons in April. I had his check garnished for CS in January. He is 4-5K in arrears. I also asked for a review for CS increase. I moved 4 1/2 mi. from him before the no fault div. went through. As a result, he is accusing my current H and I of denying visitation, and is asking for all sorts of crazy things. He is also angry that I won't talk to him anymore since he cursed me out on the phone last July. My husband is a fine Christian who handles visitation arrangements. We sometimes tape and monitor calls due to inappropriate behavior on my X's part. My son tells my husband that his Dad wants to see him, and the details are worked out between the two men. I was involved in the cycle of abuse for years, and I have had enough. My X is an addict, and his new X that he still lives w/have been in abuse counseling. My son has even been asked to write all our meds. down and give the list to his dad. He really should have never had unsup. visitation. I just didn't have enough proof, and my X gave me full custody. He has never exercised a visitation schedule, and won't commit to a phone contact schedule. He is also asking that I cover all costs in this matter. Thanks, a scared Mom

Re: Contempt of court summons

I realize you are upset. Receiving a summons even under the most innocuous circumstances can throw people into turmoil. But I am not sure exactly what it is that you specifically fear. What kind of "crazy things" has he been asking? Has he abused the child (and how old a child are we talking about?)? And since you received a summons, I assume he has filed a motion and is asking the court for some kind of visitation arrangement. It is a little difficult, however, to tell you what you should do (beyond the probably prudent course of retaining a lawyer). If you can provide more details, I might be able to better direct you.
