Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi

divorce

Due to my religious beliefs I do not want a divorce from my husband. We are separated. Can he 'force' me into signing a divorce document?

Re: divorce

Your husband cannot force you to sign for an irreconcilable differences divorce. Additionally, your husband must have grounds to divorce you and he must prove them (provided you do not go along with the irreconcilable differences divorce). I urge you to contact a local family law attorney. You could possibly be entitled to separate maintenance from your husband. If any children have been born of this marriage, you will need a temporary order of custody and support. Also, your husband may try to dispose of marital assets.

I admire your commitment to your marriage. Many people in your situation would quickly give up.
