Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi

According to divorce papers, the husband is not adhering to the financial obligations, is he considered in contempt of court? Would it be necessary to hire a lawyer to push this or can I go to the judge or court system myself?

If the husband is failing to comply with financial obligations and this failure is not excused (i.e., the husband has since the divorce become unemployed through no fault of his own) then he may be deemed to be in Contempt of the order to pay the financial obligations. If you hire an attorney to enforce this and if you do not have funds with which to pay your own lawyer, the Court should enter an Order requiring the Husband to pay the attorney (or at the very least to reimburse you for those expenses). Generally it is best to obtain an attorney due to the specific defenses available with which you probably are not familiar.
