Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi
grandparents rights
i want to know what rights do grandparents have in the state of MS , also, the grandmother who has temporary custody of my grandchildren right now keeps changing and ignoring court ordered visitation and nobody seems to be able to do anything. she refuses to release the kids or be available when it is time to pick them up for our visit.
she calls all the shots and we just have to beg her to be fair and let us see the kids. we need help!

My partner, David Waldrop, is licensed in Mississippi. I am not but can nevertheless advise that you have posted insufficient facts to obtain an thoroughly informative answer.
If the grandmother has custody by court order and is disobeying its terms, and will not voluntarily comport to the terms set forth by the court, a Petition to Show Cause or for Contempt should be pursued. The larger question becomes why the grandmother has custody and what circumstances exist that lead her to vary the terms of visitation.
The cost of pursuing a contested Show Cause matter will be greater than $2,500.00 in all likelihood, perhaps more depending on the issues and the opposition presented.
Re: grandparents rights
If you yourself have court-ordered visitation time, and the custodian of the children is denying you that visitation, they are in contempt of court. You need an attorney to file a Motion for Contempt on your behalf to enforce the order. If you do not have court-ordered visitation, you are at the mercy of the custodian of the minor children.
