Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi
Life Insurance Proceeds
My husband will be going to court to modify a 6 year old child support order. In that original order, he was required to list his daughter as sole beneficiary of his life insurance policy provided by his employer. We were married last year and my husband wants to now list me as sole beneficiary (we have no children together). Our attorney is telling us that we cannot modify this clause in the order. Is there a law requiring the listing of the child as sole beneficiary?
Thanks.

Re: Life Insurance Proceeds
I'm sure your attorney will tell you the basis for his opinion. Ethical rules intended to protect you from unnecessary expense and opinions that might undermine the relationship between you and your attorney prevent me from becoming involved in the discussion between you and your attorney.
