Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi

Property rights during separation

My husband is living in our house and I moved out. He says that if I do not contribute money to him to pay the mortgage every month, then I forfeit my rights to any money collected on the sale of our property. I don't feel that I should have to pay his rent when I'm not living there. This is just a verbal agreement. Am I being taken for a ride?

Re: Property rights during separation

One really has nothing to do with the other. If he doesn't keep the mortgage up, the mortgage company will foreclose. How the money gets split will depend on other circumstances a lot more than whether or not you contributed.
