Re: Response against complaint

You can see thousands of examples at your local courthouse. A few of them may be similar to what you will need. There are also many fine law books on divorce and family law that cost from a few hundred to over one thousand dollars or more.

I would caution however, the answer you need to file will likely just be the tip of the iceberg. There is discovery, including, Interrogatories, Request for Production of Documents, Request for Admissions, ect. and her attorney may also want to take your deposition. This can be treacherous territory if you dont know what you are doing.

I often hear that a Pro Se litigant has a fool for a client. There is a lot of truth to that statement. I was in court one day and a Judge told a man that was representing himself, that it was as smart as performing his own brain surgery. There is a reason 2/3 of people that start law school, fail or flunk-out and many still can not pass the state bar exam even after they get out of law school. I recently came across a case where a Pro Se litigant was ordered to pay over $18,000 in legal fees to his wifes attorney. I believe if he had proper representation that would not have been the case at all.

I usually will not take a case that has been started by a Pro Se litigant. Usually, they try to find an Attorney when they are in a real bind and irreversible damage has been done. The few I have taken, wind up costing them more money than if they had just hired me in the first place.

Good luck to you. You will need it.
