Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi

My son is 18 yrs old and will be a senior in high school this yr. My family has returned to our home in Biloxi, Ms after being forced to return to North Ms due to Hurricane Katrina. My exwife has had custody of my son for 18 yrs. He chose to return to Biloxi with me. My ex is in agreement with this however the school here will not allow him to be registered unless we obtain a temporary order of modification for custody. My ex relies on the monthly child support i pay her and we did not want to stop the payments or change the custody aggreement and I know that sounds strange but I am in full aggreement. What options do we have so that my son can live here and go to school without this order? He has a job here and this area has more to offer so it is in his best interest to be here. We are just concerned with his mothers current financial situation and do not want to cause any hardship for her. Also, due to our family still recovering from Katrina we are unable to afford legal fees. If we are forced to go route of order is this something we can do ourselves or are there any free to low cost legal services we could look in to. Time is very short. School begins August 5, 2009.

You will have to obtain a "primary physical custody order" in order to enroll him. That is the rule.
