Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi

Going Out Of State with Children

My daughter and grandchildren (ages 3 & 1) reside in MS. I live in MI. Due to family conflict, my daughter took the children and left her husband and house. Lacking a place to go, they resided with friends. This situation lasted 6 days, with no resolution in sight. Conditions quickly became less than optimal, so at her request, I brought her and the children to MI to stay with me. A divorce is quite likely. She wants primary custody. What is your opinion of our situation?

With the VERY limited facts, it is not possible to give a complete or accurate option. However, your daughter cannot file for divorce in Michigan until she's lived in Michigan for at least 6 months.

You daughter to should meet with an experienced family law attorney in both MS and MI for better opinions.
