How to terminate parental rights?
My son is 15 years old and has a terrible relationship with his dad. He has been seeing his dad on a regular basis since he was 4 (never saw him before that), but he treats him poorly and is verbally abusive. My son hates his dad and has always thought of my husband as his dad (since age 1). He does not want to go to his dads house anymore and wants my husband to adopt him. His father has finally agreed to give up parental rights and allow my husband to adopt. Will this be difficult to do? He is not behind on any child support and since age 4 has never missed a visitation. He also has 2 other children that live with him. My son is willing to never see his dad again and never see his siblings again. What process do I need to take? Will this be expensive, terminating parental rights, and my husband adopting? Please help

With everyone in agreement, the process is neither difficult nor complicated. You'll probably need a qualified family law attorney to prepare the necessary papers and jump through all of the statutory hoops, but with everyone in agreement, the judicial process is relatively uncomplicated.
