Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Mississippi

What is the legal definition of a Mechanics Lean?

I am having problems with a local auto shop. There was a descrepancey over the charges for the warranty work on my car. I wrote the shop a check and then called my bank and stopped the check. The shop is threatening to come get the car in 24 hours. I know there must be some legal, due course of action. By finding the ''legal'' definition of the law, I can see what rules his actions must follow. He is a major auto dealer and must follow the letter of the law. I will pay him, I have no problem with that, but only if he agrees to the much lower price that I was given at the agreement time. Then I am going to sue him for the whole amount plus more in small claims court. I also am filing an arbitration sue against all four compnies involved. It's a long story. But I have been treated wrongly in this whole matter and plan to set things right.

A mechanic's lien is a line that a mechanic has against a vehicle for work performed whereby he can legally hold a vehicle and not return it to the owner until he is paid. Of course, the mechanic's charges are not irrefutable, they may be challenged.
