Legal Question in Insurance Law in Mississippi

rights of insurance policyholder

I am trying to locate resources that will allow me to understand the rights I have as an insurance policyholder (automobile) in case I feel that an insurance company is not working in my favor. Is there a specific section of the law (federal or state) or some insurance guide book that I have access to that will show me all my rights as an insurance policyholder? I don't believe my insurance company is giving me all the facts. Thank you for your time.

Re: rights of insurance policyholder

In Mississippi, insurers and insureds are both under a general duty of good faith a fair dealing. Common law also places other parameters on matters, but each instance really requires a case-by-case analysis. With the limited information you've provided, it is impossible to discern whether your insurance company has acted properly. I recommend that you personall consult an insurance attorney so that they can look at the facts and circumstances of your case. There are no bright-line rules to go by in these types of situations.
