Legal Question in Employment Law in Mississippi

I disclosed my HIV status to my employer, and was told not to disclose this information or I would be in violation of district policy regarding confidentiality. I was also told to watch my "social media" activity in fear of violation as well. My boss has since then asked me to provide a letter, from my doctor, which stated that I was not contagious and able to perform my tasks, and has also asked me to devise a plan in case an emergency were to occur that involves blood. I have also found out that he has disclosed this information to several of my colleagues. Is this grounds for a lawsuit?

A suit may be possible based upon disability discrimination in the restrictions on speech and the informing of colleagues. Review your employer's EEO policies and follow their procedures. Also, you may need to preserve your claim by filing with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
