Legal Question in Employment Law in Mississippi

Does the owner of my company own me

I am a sallaried Q.C. manager for a concrete plant, I dont know if I am considered exempt or non-exempt. If I am non-exempt is there a limit on the amount of hours my boss can work me or is it ture when he says he ownes me 24-7.

There is no "limit" on the number of hours an employer asks an employee to work under either Florida or Federal law. I cannot speak for whether other States have "maximum" hour provisions but there none I can recall to my knowledge.

As to your exempt/non-exempt status, it is a fact-specific inquiry that focuses on the nature of your duties, the percentage of time you spend performing those duties, the authority you actually have and apply, and other factors.
