Legal Question in Personal Injury in Mississippi

I live in Mississippi and was involved in a rear end accident. Unfortunately my insurance had lapsed. It occurred around may 20, 2009, lawsuit filed by plantiff's insurance co May 14, 2012 but was not served until August 1, 2012. Does that fall within the statute of limitations?

A claim alleging simple negligence from a car accident is subject to a three year statute of limitations in Mississippi. If the accident occurred on May 20, 2009, and the lawsuit was filed on May 14, 2012, the lawsuit was filed within the statute of limitations.
