Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Mississippi
Working for landlord rights
I signed a lease with a real estate agent back in feb, in march the owner sold the house and the new owner agreed to keep to the lease with me , in april he hired me to remodel another home of his and after the home was almost finished he came to me upset making threats of throwing me out my existing home and saying he had friends who could help him get my family out quick if he wanted to, he has been wanting to remodel the home i live in but needs me to move but my lease is for a year so he has thrown many threats my way saying he will put my family to the streets even after i remodeled his other home and he was very satisfied and my rent has never been late . What are my rights regarding this and what can be done to stop the harassment from him as he has no reason to warrant this behavior . He also has said that because i paid my rent with the money given for my work on his other house he feels that it is not the same . I''m just at a lost on what to do about this.

Re: Working for landlord rights
The lease entitles you to quite enjoyment of the property subject to its conditions. As long as you meet your obligations under the lease, he should not expect any aid from the courts.
As to harassment, the law does not give a landlord any right to harass a tenant, and his actions may also be breaches of the implied covenant of quite enjoyment since he is demanding that you quit the lease.
Proof of lease payments to him and his demands to quit the lease will be relevant.
