Legal Question in Traffic Law in Mississippi
1st Time Careless Driving Ticket
Yesterday a local county sheriff ticketed me for Careless Driving. This happened on a country road at night. There was an out of state car driving very slowly and erratically. There was an old truck behind him tailgating. I thought there might be an accident if I remained behind the vehicles. The entire country road was considered a ''no passing'' zone although there are several places to safely passes a vehicle. I passed both of those vehicles with no other vehicle coming the other direction and was sited for Careless driving. I tried to explain this to the officer but to no avail. I really don't want this on my insurance. What can I do?
