Legal Question in Traffic Law in Mississippi

RE: Statute of limitations on traffic tickets.

My Son received a traffic ticket in Forest, MS. (aprox 2009) this ticket was paid. In aprox. 2010 he was stopped in Ridgeland, MS and told that there was a warrant for his arrest in Forest. When Forest was called re: ticket they stated that they showed no payment and with fines and fees said ticket amounted to around $1000. As I said the original ticket was paid and due to lack of communication from Forest and 2 moves enough time elapsed that no records were available. The Ridgeland warrant stems directly from the lack of communication from Forrest. He did move out of the Ridgeland jurisdiction to the MS. Gulf Coast but not to avoid prosecution but rather a job transfer that can be documented. My son cannot afford these fines and they are preventing him from obtaining gainful employment in his field. He newly divorced with custody of 3 minor children. He HAS to work or join the masses on the governments payroll. Please advise

Is there proof this ticket was paid? If there is no record of the payment then the government will pursue the matter. The warrant is valid without proof there was payment. The fines and fees must be paid, though it is possible they may discount some of the fees if they are for failure to appear etc.
