Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Mississippi

Joint ownership of estate

My father and his brother are joint owners of a business. His brother locks the storage room in the office. My father does not have a key to this room. His brother does refuses to allow my father to have a key. Is there a law concerning this matter? Doesn't my father have a right to be allowed into this storage room? What should be done in this matter?

Re: Joint ownership of estate

In a partnership there should be no secrets between the partners regarding business property and the brother's conduct seems suspicious. Also, if he is doing something illegal on business property, your father is at risk of being charged as a conspirator and forfeiture of business assets. Therefore, your father should discuss his situation with an attorney, an accountant, and then approach his brother about their business relationship and an inventory of the business.
