Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Mississippi

lawyer ignores info requestsDad

Dad passed away in 2001, left will to divide all assets(home, stocks, bonds, cash, etc)between all 7 children.Named 1 brother & 1 sister co-executors, brother handled all financial matters for Dad prior to death. Laywer hired by brother(friend of son-in-law).Will sent to probate 8/02, wrong will was given to court(I pointed this out to lawyer). 11/02 I was sent wavier of Process, did not sign.Correct will sent for probate 2/03.Lawyer & brother will not disclose assets/info to me or sister who is co-exe.Lawyer will not answer calls, have tried for 1&1/2 months leaving messages. Sister (co-exe) went to office to talk to lawyer, he has told her via phone she is no longer allowed in his office.Brother has told all other siblings different values of estate, from $0-$30,000. Sister & I not sure what legal steps to take, esp terminating current lawyer and hiring another. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank You.

The co-executor sister can have her own attorney contact the brother's attorney to learn what they know about the estate assets. She can also obtain letters testimentary that will give her authority to investigate the assets jointly or independently of the other executor. The beneficiaries can also review the court file at any time and contest the final executor's proposed final disposition of the estate.
