Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

Child Support

Can you give me a rough estimate on what child support would be for two children from my ex-husband? I know there is Form 14 but I wanted a rough estimate. I make 52,000 per year and he makes $100,000+. I currently receive $579 per month and I have been told that this is low. He feels this is all he needs to provide and does not purchase above and beyond (special purchases for them, etc.)

Re: Child Support

The child support calculation has many variables to determine the amount owed by a parent. Some of those are: gross income of parties; if there are other support obligations; health insurance costs; day-care costs; overnight visitation credits; extra-ordinary medical or educational expenses; etc. So it is difficult to give you a "rough estimate" based upon the information provided. I can tell you that if you made $52k and he made $100k annually, then the basic amount of presumed each month is $1701, plus extras (health insurance, daycare, overnight credit, etc). Of that base amount he would pay his proportional share of the combined income (approx 67%), or $1139. Depending on his parenting schedule he could be entitled to an overnight visitation credit anywhere from 6% to 34%. So if he had a 10% credit, then you would reduce his payment by $113 each month.

Re: Child Support

Although that figure does sound low given the gross monthly income figures, an attorney would need to know the answers to several other questions before running a form 14 calculation. Perhaps you should consult with an attorney and provide all of the necessary information.
