If you file for bankruptcy to get out from under a mortgage, how long do you have before you must vacate the property?

The thing you will achive discharge form is the promissory note, not the mrtgage of deed of trust. There is no set time in which to vacate. But, you will want to be out before the date of the foreclosure sale. IYou may avoid the sale by executing a deed in lieu. but, there are reasons not to do that . You shoudl consutl idrelcty with an attorney in your area before executing one. Your bankruptcy atorney should advise you as to yrou options. If not, go see another attorney.
