Discharging taxes

Yes - the bankruptcy Code provides that certain taxes are dischargeable in a bankruptcy proceeding. At a basic level taxes due more thsn three yearas prior to the filing of the petition, where the return was filed for than two years prior to the filing of the pettion may be discharged. Of course, as with many laws, there are many other provisions and conditions, but I have stated the general rule.
